Lead BJJ Instructor · Black Belt

Todd Chappell

Todd is the black belt who leads Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at The Dojang. A black belt in Jiu Jitsu is not a title you test into quickly. It is a decade or more of training, competing, and learning how to pass all of it on to the next person. Todd coaches the way the best black belts do: patient with the brand new white belt, honest with the competitor chasing their next stripe, and focused on making every student better than they were last week.

How we coach

The same standard for every student.

Patient, not soft

We meet you where you are and we still hold the bar high. Encouragement and standards are the whole method here.

Everyone gets seen

Advancement is earned, never handed out, and never based on comparison to another student. Each person's path is their own.

Character first

Discipline, respect, and self control come before any technique. That is what parents notice at home, and what adults carry off the mat.

Come train with them.
